Christian Eriksen Would Rather Play in Serie A Instead of Premier League, Agent SaysChristian Eriksen's agent has told Manchester United, Tottenham and a host of Premier League clubs "don't bother." The talented Ajax playmaker has his heart set on Italian soccer, according to TalkSPORT.

"The boy would rather play in Italy than the Premier League," Martin Schoots said. "He has a real love of Italian football and would very much like to play in Italy."

AS Roma has been named as a possible destination for the Danish midfielder, but a move to the Italian capital is unlikely at this point. Roma finished seventh in Serie A last season, failing to qualify for both the the UEFA Champions or Europa Leagues.

Eriksen has been a key player for Ajax over the last two seasons. He left Denmark in 2008 when he was just 16 and joined the vaunted Ajax youth academy. He became a starter in the 2010-11 season, and helped the Dutch giant win the first of two consectuive Eredivisie titles.

His ability to score goals and create them for others (he had seven goals and 19 assists last season) has earned him plenty of admirers, and scouts from many top European clubs have been spotted at the Amsterdam Arena.

The 20-year-old has said he wants to continue developing at Ajax before making the jump to one of Europe's bigger leagues. Ajax will play in next season's UEFA Champions League, and Eriksen will be central to the plans of manager Frank de Boer.

Eriksen is also set to feature for Denmark at this summer's European Championship, and he's been touted as a possible breakout star of the tournament.

If and when he makes the move to Italy, expect Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, Roma and Inter Milan to make transfer offers in excess of £20 million ($30.8 million) for the prodigy. It will likely be many years before he graces the Premier League with his talents.
