Dustin Pedroia Not in Red Sox Lineup Against Marlins One Night After Leaving Game EarlyDustin Pedroia came out of Tuesday night's game with the Marlins after re-aggravating his thumb injury. It appears that for one night at least, the Red Sox second baseman will rest that thumb.

Pedroia isn't in the Boston starting lineup on Wednesday night as the Red Sox take on the Marlins at Fenway Park in what's expected to be a sultry June night in Boston.

Pedroia, who missed time last month with a torn adductor muscle in his right thumb, apparently felt some discomfort in the thumb during Boston's win in the series opener with Miami. He'll be replaced at second base by Nick Punto, who will hit eighth.

Will Middlebrooks is once again absent from the Boston lineup with Kevin Youkilis at third and Adrian Gonzalez at first.
