Former San Diego Charger Tries to Burn Down Apartment With Marijuana Because 'God Told Him To'It seems that former USC and San Diego Chargers linebacker and defensive back Kevin Ellison took to the college lifestyle a bit too much.

Ellison was arrested last week on suspicion of arson, initially telling investigators that he started a blaze in his Liberty Lake, Washington apartment by smoking in bed. However, when he got to the hospital, Ellison changed his story, saying that God ordered him to set fire to the apartment with the marijuana blunt that he was smoking.

Ellison was playing for the Spokane Shock of the Arena Football League when the incident occurred — he has since been suspended from the team. The 6-1, 225-pound defensive player last played in the NFL in 2010 with the Seattle Seahawks and was cut from the team preseason. This was after he was cut by the Chargers following an arrest on a controlled substance charge.

Ellison's roommate and Shock teammate Chris Tucker escaped the blaze without injury.
