Franklin Gutierrirez departed Thursday night’s game against the Red Sox after being hit in the head by an errant pickoff throw by Red Sox starter Franklin Morales.

Now, the team has announced that Gutierrez will be placed on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion, continuing a snakebitten season for the Mariners centerfielder.

The 29-year-old only recently returned to the Mariners lineup after being sidelined with a torn pectoral muscle and plantar fasciitis for most of this year. He was batting .267 with two home runs and nine RBIs in 13 games for Seattle.
