Josh Beckett has been pretty consistent for the Red Sox as of late, but it looks like a nagging injury will cause him to miss some time.

Beckett has been scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday night in Chicago, as the pitcher is dealing with some inflammation in his right shoulder, manager Bobby Valentine revealed after Friday's 3-0 loss.

Red Sox reliever Franklin Morales will get the start in his place. Morales, who has started 15 games in his six year big league career, hasn't started a game since 2009 when he was still a member of the Colorado Rockies.

While Morales prepares to take the hill in an intense atmosphere on Sunday night, the recurring injury problems for Beckett could be of concern to Red Sox fans.

Beckett had some thumb issues toward the end of spring training and needed a second opinion before finally feeling healthy enough to take the mound. He also suffered through some apparent shoulder soreness earlier in the season as well.

Valentine nixed any ideas that Beckett would need a trip to the disabled list, saying of his pitcher "he needs rest, but he'll be pitching again, for sure."
