Josh Hamilton's Life Story to Become Movie Written, Directed by Casey AffleckPeople could have seen this movie coming from a mile away.

Josh Hamilton's life has taken so many dramatic twists and turns that it seems perfect for the screen, which is exactly where his life story is heading.

The Texas Rangers slugger sold the rights to his story to producer Basil Iwanyk and Thunder Road Pictures, according to Deadline Hollywood, and it is being shopped around in Hollywood. The film will be written and directed by Casey Affleck.

Hamilton is known for recovering from a true rock bottom. He initially had a bright future, selected by the Tampa Bay Rays with the first overall pick in the 1999 MLB draft. Soon after his career began, however, he became addicted to drugs and alcohol and was later suspended from the MLB.

Hamilton became wrapped up in drug addiction and was sent to rehab, where he met his wife Katie Hamilton. After attending several rehabilitation centers, Hamilton was later granted a second chance at the majors and worked his way back to the big leagues.

The slugger was signed by the Cincinnati Reds in 2007, then traded to the Rangers in 2008, where he has re-emerged as a true MLB superstar. He won the 2008 home run derby, the AL MVP in 2010, and has been an All-Star selection every season from 2008-11.

Currently, Hamilton is destroying the baseball, and is posting potential Triple Crown numbers, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since 1967 by Carl Yastrzemski. Although he has been noted for slipping into some alcohol-related problems as of late, Hamilton's rise from drug addiction makes his story perfect for the movies.

According to NBC Sports, they have not yet cast an actor to star as Hamilton in the movie.
