It looks like Julian Edelman's versatility translates from the gridiron to the diamond.

The Patriots wide receiver was at Rogers Centre in Toronto on Sunday, and while there, he worked out with the Blue Jays. Edelman didn't just take a couple cuts and field a few groundballs, though. Instead, he impressed the Jays coaching staff, according to WEEI.com, showing that he perhaps had a career in baseball had he gone in that direction.

"[Second baseman] Kelly Johnson took balls alongside him, and said he was amazing. He's never seen footwork as good as that. The first fungo you hit him, he just exploded and attacked the ball," Blue Jays coach Brian Butterfield reportedly said of Edelman's workout. "Dwayne Murphy, who won seven Gold Gloves, was watching him take fly balls and said he was impressive."

Edelman wowed at the plate as well, blasting five home runs into the Rogers Centre seats, including two that reached the middle deck.

"The two in the middle deck were absolute bombs," Butterfield reportedly said. "When he hit them, the guys were just screaming and yelling and telling each other, 'Look at that!' He just wowed all of our guys. I'm a huge fan of his to begin with, and he was just even better than I thought. A great athlete."

Butterfield said that while the Blue Jays have had various celebrities and athletes from other sports work out with the team in the past, Edelman was "far and away" the best, even saying that "you could certainly project him as a professional baseball player."

Edelman, who is friends with Toronto catcher J.P. Arencibia, thanked the organization on Twitter after the workout, but the receiver's baseball career might not be over yet.

"I'll do the same with the redsox if they let me!," Edelman tweeted.

Hey, why not? There's always room for a few more dents in the Green Monster.
