Luis Tiant pitched 18 seasons in the major leagues, eight of which were spent with the Boston Red Sox.

Tiant spent arguably three of his best seasons in a Red Sox uniform and has been honored many times at Fenway Park for his great achievements on the baseball field.

On Monday, June 11, Tiant threw out the first pitch at a Miami Marlins game against the Sox. The honor was not only a sign of respect for Tiant’s success in the big leagues but his heritage and contributions as a Cuban. Miami, which has a very large Cuban poppulation, appreciated Tiant’s success and honored him on Monday.

For that, Tiant is recognized with the Ketel One Honorable Moment of the week.
