New Englanders know how dangerous and difficult it is to drive in the snow and ice during winter months. You would think people in Minnesota would know better.

That is not the case. Joel Keith Bruss of Apple Valley, Minn., will serve two years probation for driving a Zamboni while intoxicated, according to the Duluth News Tribune.

The incident took place on Jan. 30, when witnesses at the Hayes Arena in Apple Valley called police to report abnormal driving. When police arrived, Bruss had driven a Zamboni halfway onto the ice.

Bruss' speech was slurred, and he had difficulty keeping his balance — clearly symptoms of intoxication, police said.

Bruss was arrested and given a urine test that showed a blood alcohol content of 0.32, police said. The legal limit to drive in Minnesota is 0.08.

Witnesses told police that Bruss missed some spots on the ice the first time he resurfaced it. When he began the second trip, he had to be told to turn the water on. One witness said Bruss drove the Zamboni into the boards, and it ricocheted about six feet.
