Of the many skills football calls on, swimming, biking and running are not a usual gridiron combination.

But the Patriots will be highlighting those sports come July as they work with the New England YMCA  on its first-ever New England Kids Triathlon, which is expected to become the largest children's triathlon ever held in the Northeast.

More than 700 kids ages 5 to 15 and 2,500 spectators are expected to gather at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on July 21-22 for the event, according to a press release from the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation.

"As active members of the community, we are always searching for ways to make our hometowns better places to live, and this event embodies that spirit," Kimberly Cohen of the New England YMCA said. "We are proud to partner with the Patriots to help show kids that being healthy and active can be fun."

The Patriots, their charitable foundation and NFL PLAY 60 will be banding together for the event, which includes local celebrities, prizes for every child who finishes, and fundraising and donations for local community organizations, churches and schools.
