Every Red Sox starter had at least one hit, Daniel Nava had four, and David Ortiz had an epic grand slam. Mike Aviles and Cody Ross both drove in three runs in the win.
That's what they call a building block. See you tomorrow when the Red Sox and Marlins return to Fenway Park, with Boston eyeing its first sweep since a May series against the Indians.
End 8th, Red Sox 15-5: Steve Cishek came in for Chad Gaudin, who left after allowing two hits over two innings.
Will Middlebrooks looked like he was bummed for missing the Red Sox' hitting party — he added to the team's stat line with a home run of his own, driving in Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who got on base with a walk.
Mark Melancon is in to pitch, and Kelly Shoppach will catch. This may be one of those games where everybody gets a turn! It's a feel-good game all-around for the Sox.
Mid 8th, Red Sox 13-5: Omar Infante lit into another Clayton Mortensen pitch for a double, but the young righty otherwise kept the bases clean in the top of the top of the eighth.
David Ortiz will look to continue his big game in the bottom half of the frame, and Darnell McDonald is taking Cody Ross' spot in right field.
End 7th, Red Sox 13-5: It's another quick one, as it looks like both teams are OK with this one wrapping up.
Daniel Nava singled but was quickly erased by a Ryan Kalish double play. Adrian Gonzalez's groundout ended the inning.
Mid 7th, Red Sox 13-5: It's been a day of long balls in the American League East, and Clayton Mortensen is doing his part to keep the laser show going.
Mortensen gave up a home run to John Buck on his second pitch then saw Donovan Solano clank one high off the Green Monster.
Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen is working in this one. There's no word on why Solano came in for Jose Reyes, but Scott Cousins was sent in for Giancarlo Stanton to pinch hit with one out.
Guillen may be giving his stars a rest as this one gets out of hand. It's a nastily hot night to be playing baseball.
End 6th, Red Sox 13-4: Kevin Youkilis continued his strong night at the plate, doubling off the wall to keep the Red Sox pressing. Piling on even more runs could do a lot for the team's confidence as the Sox try to clean up during their pre-All-Star-break slate.
Will Middlebrooks came in to pinch run for Youkilis, so he'll get the rest of the game at third base while Youkilis leaves with a 2-for-3 night.
Clayton Mortensen is coming in to take over for Felix Doubront. Doubront finishes the night with four strikeouts, nine hits and four earned runs — certainly not his best performance, or his usual outing. But he may get the W in this one.
Mid 6th, Red Sox 13-4: That's a quick one for the Red Sox. The Marlins just couldn't get anything going again, with Felix Doubront striking out Austin Kearns and then clearing the bases on a Gaby Sanchez double play.
Doubront is up to 88 pitches, and Clayton Mortensen is warming up in the bullpen, so Doubront's night may be over soon.
The Marlins are sending in a new pitcher themselves. Chad Gaudin will try to keep Miami from taking on any further damage. Donovan Solano has also come in at shortstop.
End 5th, Red Sox 13-4: The bases were loaded for David Ortiz once again.
But A wild pitch from Marlins reliever Chris Hatcher allowed another run to score. Afterward, Ortiz struck out swinging and couldn't replicate his magic.
The duo of Daniel Nava and Ryan Kalish in the top of the order has really helped out.
Mid 5th, Red Sox 12-4: All season long, Felix Doubront has been the king of strikeouts. But in this one, he's only racked up three so far.
On another note, Marlins reliever Chris Hatcher — who yielded the bombs to Ortiz and Saltalamacchia — actually made his major league debut as a catcher.
He converted into a pitcher last season. Clearly, this is a blemish on his resume.
End 4th, Red Sox 12-4: With the bases loaded, David Ortiz came through and blasted a grand slam.
That's No. 18 for him on the season and that's his 11th grand slam of Ortiz's career and his first since July 27, 2011 against the Royals.
Shortly thereafter, Jarrod Saltalamacchia blasted his 13th long ball of the season. It's an offensive explosion en route to a six-run inning.
I mean, the Red Sox bats are doing toxic things to the Marlins. See what I did there?
8:36 p.m.: Ryan Kalish continues to be a sparkplug for the Red Sox, belting in a run.
Mid 4th, Red Sox 6-4: Morrison has keyed the Marlins' surge against the Red Sox. On Tuesday, he carried the team by driving in all five runs.
After the sequence, Felix Doubront surrendered a triple to Justin Ruggiano. Gaby Sanchez eventually brought Ruggiano in for a run.
Clearly, it's not Doubront's best night right now. It's like Mark Buehrle, who flourished last week against Boston, but struggled on Tuesday.
8:14 p.m.: Logan Morrison is just shredding the Red Sox. He belted his seventh homer of the season.
End 3rd, Red Sox 6-2: See how much Cody Ross meant to the Red Sox?
With the bases loaded, he unloaded a double that drove everyone in and that's four RBIs since his return. He's also riding a three-game streak with a home run.
Let's see if he'll add to it. Ross, however, did say he still wanted to stick it to the Marlins "a little" after they dumped him in 2010.
Mid 3rd, Red Sox 3-2: Hanley Ramirez flew out in that second at-bat. But since moving to third base, he's played pretty well.
After seven seasons at shortstop, Ramirez made the move to allow Jose Reyes to contribute to the lineup and shine as a shortstop.
And you know who advised? None other than David Ortiz as I wrote about.
End 2nd, Red Sox 3-2: For the first time in a month, Mike Aviles delivered a home run, blasting a three-run shot to take the lead.
Aviles has done well amid the constant shuffling in the order, adapting to each and every single spot to have success.
That's his ninth long ball of the season, just one shy of his career high this season.
Mid 2nd, Marlins 2-0: Gaby Sanchez grounded out, but in the process, he drove in a run.
It was as a result of Omar Infante's bunt for a hit. That play moved over Justin Ruggiano, who ripped a leadoff double.
The Marlins are taking it to Doubront with some small ball, so he'll need to regroup.
End 1st, Marlins 1-0: Red Sox skipper Bobby Valentine shuffled up the order a little bit.
He slid Daniel Nava at leadoff and Ryan Kalish in the No. 2 hole. It's Nava's first start since he felt issues with his thumb/hand last weekend.
Putting Kalish atop the order doesn't seem to be a bad idea. He can make contact and is pretty speedy, too.
Mid 1st, Marlins 1-0: Unlike last time around, the Marlins have scored a run early against Sox starter Felix Doubront.
It took two quick singles from Jose Reyes and Hanley Ramirez to put the pressure and Giancarlo Stanton grounded into a double play that wound up driving Reyes in for a run.
It's very rare that Doubront yields a run so early.

8 a.m. ET: The Red Sox (34-33) have returned to their winning ways above .500. They'll look to maintain that momentum when Felix Doubront takes the mound against the Marlins (33-34) just one week after beating them. Last time around, Doubront dazzled, giving up two runs over seven innings. This time, Doubront owns a 7-3 record with a 4.17 ERA entering the game.
The lefty will go up against Marlins pitcher Ricky Nolasco, who is 6-5 with a 4.37 ERA. Nolasco took the loss his last time versus the Red Sox, yielding four runs in six innings while walking one and striking out four. Through 17 career interleague starts, Nolasco is 6-9 with a 4.82 ERA.
