Commissioner David Stern has ordered that the Thunder send the Celtics a 2013 second-round pick as compensation for the heart problem Jeff Green suffered with the C's, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The Thunder will reportedly send the second-round pick it controls from the Bobcats, meaning it should end up being an early second-round pick — perhaps the first pick of the second round if Charlotte winds up being the NBA's worst team again.
Green was traded by Oklahoma City to Boston prior to the 2011 trade deadline, and he later re-signed with the Celtics during the offseason. The 25-year-old failed his physical as a result of an aortic aneurysm, though, and was forced to miss the entire 2011-12 season.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Boston's doctors constructed a case to take to the NBA trying to show proof that Oklahoma City owed the Celtics some kind of compensation. The league apparently agreed.
Green is a free agent this offseason, although it's believed the C's would like to re-sign the forward.
