Report: Percy Harvin Demands Trade From Minnesota Vikings Former first round pick Percy Harvin wants out of Minnesota, according to a source close to the situation. This came after the first day of mandatory mini-camp, where Harvin voiced his displeasure with many issues but did not go into detail. After showing up for the morning walk through on Wednesday, Harvin was a no-show for the afternoon practice.

Harvin has been one of the biggest keys to the Vikings' success since being drafted 22nd overall in the 2009 draft. Besides all-pro Adrian Peterson, Harvin is the only other Viking on the field that has big play potential.

After Peterson tore his ACL in week 16 last year, there has been doubt whether Peterson would start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list or be all systems a go for Week 1. If Peterson does start the season on the PUP list the Vikings will look to Harvin to be even more dynamic.

General Manager Rick Spielman came out shortly after the report and and indicated that Harvin is a cornerstone player.

"We have no interest at all in trading Percy Harvin," Spielman said. "We drafted Percy Harvin here. He's a key part of our organization. He's a key part of our football team. Any issues that are out there, or reported, we always handle those internally, and we'll continue to handle those internally."

Harvin has increased his receptions and reception yards all three years he has been with the Vikings. Harvin ranked 6th in the NFL in receptions with 87 and 21st in receiving yards with 967 last season and last year developed into one of the most dangerous slot wide receivers in the game. So you can understand why the Vikings management doesn’t want to deal one of its best talents. Plus Harvin comes at the relativley cheap price of $915,000.

With last year’s first round pick the Vikings selected franchise quarterback Christian Ponder. With him under center to start the year the team will need Harvin to continue his development and lead them past the Packers to the NFC North title.
