Report: Sidney Crosby to Ink New Deal Worth More Than $100 Million

Sidney Crosby has struggled to stay on the ice the past two seasons, but his dominance when healthy is enough for the Penguins to hand him a monster contract.

The Penguins and Crosby are finalizing a new contract in excess of $100 million, according to ESPN.com.

The contract would reportedly carry an average salary of around $9 million per season, with much of it being front-loaded. The deal is reportedly expected to be 12 or 13 years in length.

Crosby, who has one year remaining on his current contract, played in just 22 games last season and 41 the season before. He's been tremendous when he's been on the ice, though, cementing himself as arguably the game's best player.

Crosby has four 100-point seasons, a Hart Trophy and a Stanley Cup to his credit.
