Sen. Harry Reid Channels Bryce Harper With 'That's a Clown Question, Bro' Response to Question (Video)It’s usually a pretty poor idea for a politician to invoke sports into any of their rhetoric, whether it’s planned or organic.

For proof of that, just ask Thomas Menino. Or John Kerry. Or Martha Coakley. And that’s just in Massachusetts.

Sometimes, however politicians are able to pull it off smoothly, which is exactly what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid did on Tuesday afternoon.

As The Atlantic points out, the senator was asked on Tuesday whether he thought Mitch McConnell was waiting for Mitt Romney to speak out about President Barack Obama’s immigration policy before commenting on the matter.

To that, Reid simply responded “I don’t wanna answer that question. That’s a clown question, bro.”

Well, actually, he went on to answer the question. But still, it was pretty cool for at least a couple of seconds and it was good for a handful of laughs, even if the reporters didn’t actually catch the reference.

The answer is an obvious allusion to Nationals phenom outfielder Bryce Harper who uttered those same words a week ago when he was asked by a reporter in Toronto whether or not he was going to enjoy a beer after the game. Harper, who is 19, was none too pleased with the joke, and he fired back with the response that has taken on a life of its own.
