Clay Buchholz Headed to Disabled List With Gastrointestinal IssueA bug — injury, flu or otherwise — has bit the Red Sox.

Clay Buchholz is the latest Red Sox pitcher to take some time off, as he is headed to the disabled list, NESN's Didier Morais reports.

Buchholz was already scratched from Sunday's start against the Atlanta Braves due to illness, and he is being sidelined with a gastrointestinal issue, according to NESN's Tom Caron. Manager Bobby Valentine said Buchholz had been in the hospital earlier this week with the illness, Caron tweeted.

Boston is already without Josh Beckett, who is on the 15-day disabled list, and the team has seen a host of position players knocked out of the lineup throughout the season.
