There weren't many people who saw the Eastern Conference Finals going seven games when the series first began. Then when the Heat won the first two games in Miami, it looked like getting to a Game 7 was almost impossible.
The Celtics then stormed back, taking two at home and stealing Game 5 in Miami to take a 3-2 series lead home to Boston. It then seemed like Game 7 was virtually impossible, as many expected the C's to put the last few shovel loads of dirt on Miami's grave.
Then, of course, LeBron James took over Game 6 with a masterpiece for the ages to help keep the Heat alive.
And that's where we stand right now. Two of the biggest franchises going in the game right now, meeting one last time with a ticket to the NBA Finals up for grabs.
At this point, it truly is up for grabs, too. The Heat will be playing at home, which should be an advantage. Their advantage when it comes to age and durability may also play a key role. But then again, as we've seen already in this series, the Celtics — especially this version — can never be counted out.
Despite James' gem in Game 6, there are still doubts about whether or not he can come through when it matters most. He went a long way in erasing those doubts with his 45 points and 15 rebounds Thursday night, but there's still one game to go. The Game 6 performance will be just a footnote in history if James can't come through in Game 7, too.
No matter how things play out Saturday night in Miami, one thing will is certain. It will be a fascinating basketball game.
