Black Bear Captured Outside Boston Looking to Join Forces With Bruins Bear?

The Bruins Bear may have done a lot of crazy things over the years to earn the affection of Bruins fans — but traveling 100 miles toward Boston is surely not one of them.

That feat was left for a 180-pound black bear who made the trek from Central Massachusetts to a Brookline, Mass., backyard, according to MSNBC. It had been placed the middle of the Commonwealth two weeks ago after being caught wandering around Cape Cod for several days.

While the bear has since been relocated roughly 150 miles away to the western part of the state, it’s obvious that it’s only a matter of time before it finds its way back in another probable attempt to make it to downtown Boston and the TD Garden.

It may be premature to put the “Cape Cod Bear” on the same level as the Bruins Bear — let’s wait until it turns up here again to have that discussion — but perhaps we can at least grant him some kind of distinction in the meantime.

In honor of the Bruins’ development camp starting up on Thursday, let’s declare the Cape Cod Bear the official mascot of said camp. Sound off in the comments if you agree, and in the meantime, enjoy some videos of the Bruins Bear doing what it does best.
