Webb Simpson‘s U.S. Open victory was both special and hilarious.
Nothing about Simpson’s play, which included four big birdies around the turn, was particularly funny, but the golfer’s post-tournament interview with NBC’s Bob Costas ended up delivering plenty of comedic value.
As Simpson accepted his trophy and answered questions from Costas, a crazed fan suddenly appeared in the shot, showing off what appeared to be his best bird call. It was the videobomb of all videobombs, largely because of the big hat the fan also sported for the occasion.
It’s unclear how the fan got this close to Simpson right after the tourney, but the U.S. Open champ gave the fan a nice little sendoff message as he was restrained.
“Enjoy the jail cell, pal,” Simpson said.
You’ve got to give credit to Simpson and Costas for playing off the strange scene the way they did, but the crazy guy’s “Cuh caw!” stole the show.
