Will the Red Sox Be Buyers or Sellers at the Trade Deadline? The Red Sox made one major move this weekend when sending Kevin Youkilis to the White Sox, but it's very likely the team will continue to make deals.

The question soon looming, however, is in which direction the team will be angling during negotiations.

While they are struggling at the bottom of the American League East, the Sox are still withing striking distance of a playoff berth. With the new second wild card team added this year, the Sox are only two games shy of a postseason spot entering Tuesday night's game and could very quickly make some noise in the playoff picture.

On the other hand, Ben Cherington and company may view the road back to the playoffs as too difficult while balancing a need to build for the future.

Instead of trading away prospects for the chance of bringing in some veteran talent, the Sox brass could instead choose to ship off some assets in exchange for building blocks the team may be able to use in the near future — when making a serious run at a World Series may seem a little more feasible.

The team still has a little more than a month to prepare and decide what it wants to do at the July 31 deadline. Which direction do you expect the Red Sox to go in?
