Punching Abby Wambach Earns Colombia's Lady Andrade Two-Game Ban From FIFAAbby Wambach called it a sucker punch. FIFA apparently agrees.

Two days after Wambach was slugged in the face unprovoked by Colombian player Lady Andrade during a testy pool play game in the London Olympics, Andrade has received a two-game ban from FIFA’s disciplinary committee, The Associated Press reports.

Andrade will miss Tuesday’s game against France and the quarterfinal game, if Colombia advances.

Wambach and her U.S. teammates called for punishment after the game, especially after the officials did not see the initial hit on the field due to Wambach and Andrade being out of their lines of sight. Wambach stayed in the game and scored in the 74th minute as the U.S. won 3-0. Wambach celebrated the goal by holding her eye open while facing the stands.

The U.S. did not file a formal complaint but did contact FIFA.
