Arian Foster Turns Vegan, Wishes People Wanted Peace As Much As MeatArian Foster has rushed for nearly 3,000 yards over the past seasons, and the Houston Texans rewarded the running back for his hardwork this offseason with a five-year, $43.5 million contract.

Well, now it appears that the 25-year-old workhorse is ready to repay the generosity with a new diet. Foster, who has scored 32 total touchdowns over three NFL seasons, announced over the weekend that he would be going vegan.

"Officially a vegan now. We'll see how this goes. But week one down. So far, so good. Feels wonderful," Foster said on his Twitter account. He continued with the revelation minutes later tweeting, "I've never had a glass of milk in my life. I hate the taste."

Foster's announcement caused quite the uproar on Twitter and had fans readily stating their opinions and suggestions on his account. The two-time Pro Bowler responded in a lighthearted manner before the topic turned a bit more serious.

"Lol I had no idea so many of my followers were nutritionists," Foster tweeted, before turning the tone of the conversation. "People feel so strong about meat and milk. I wish they felt this strong about peace."

The Texans star halfback may hope his new diet can bring him back to the same sort of numbers he produced in 2010, when he led all running backs with both 1,616 yards and 16 touchdowns out of the backfield. His production fell slightly in 2011, as he followed up his breakout campaign with 1,224 yards, good enough for fifth in the league, and 10 touchdowns.
