It's also a yearly opportunity for the superstars of the game to showcase their flashy shoes, as many of them are not shy about wearing busier and more colorful spikes than the classic black design.

So on Tuesday night, when baseball fans watched Pablo Sandoval chug around the bases on his way to the first bases-clearing triple in All-Star Game history, they saw his bright orange cleats clad with shiny gold trim.

R.A. Dickey may not have started the game, but he still scored major points for his silver cleats complete with an American flag decal on the tongue.

Derek Jeter wore a cool pair of kicks, but they were a bit ruined for anybody who found out the rather unusual name of "Jeter Legend Elite Jordan," which go on sale in December.

And Bryce Harper just can't go one night without attracting attention to himself. Not only did he miss a rather easy pop-up in right field to his great embarassment, but he also wore a startlingly catchy red and gold pair of cleats.

Of course, they weren't the only ones who wore interesting pairs of shoes on the night.
