Daisuke Matsuzaka is going to have some time to work out the kinks after struggling through his last start.

The Red Sox are placing the starter on the 15-day disabled list, according to NESN's Jenny Dell, just a day after his worst start of the season. Daisuke allowed five runs and four hits while walking two before getting pulled with no outs in the second inning against the A's on Monday.

As a corresponding roster move, the team recalled infielder Mauro Gomez from Triple-A Pawtucket, likely to provide some depth off the bench with his bat. With the team waiting for Will Middlebrooks to get healthy as well, the Red Sox bench could be awfully thin heading down the stretch into the All-Star break.
