Report: Geovany Soto Traded to Texas Rangers For Minor League Pitcher Jacob BrighamIn a mostly unsurprising move on Monday, Geovany Soto was traded to the Texas Rangers less than a day before the trade deadline.

Midway through the Cubs' opener of their three game homestand with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the 29-year-old catcher was reportedly dealt to Texas for minor league pitcher Jacob Brigham

Soto has been struggling lately, batting only .199 with six homers and 14 RBI through 52 games played this season. The move will offer Texas flexibility with Mike Napoli, who typically sits behind the dish for the Rangers. With Soto present, Napoli could be moved to the DH spot or even to first to replace a struggling Michael Young.

Brigham, just 24, is 5-5 with a 4.28 ERA through 124 innings with Texas' Double-A Frisco squad.
