Hanley Ramirez's Departure Brought 'A Lot of Smiles' to Marlins ClubhouseThe Miami Marlins are not a good baseball team. Despite spending a ton of money this offseason, the Marlins are just about out of contention, and the firesale is on. They are 45-53 and sit 13 1/2 games back in the NL East.

But they apparently found something to smile about on Wednesday.

That's because infielder Hanley Ramirez was shipped to the Dodgers, the latest member of the Fish to be moved in the club's latest garage sale. The departure of Ramirez has some members of the Miami clubhouse excited to be saying sayonara to the longtime Marlin.

"There were a lot of smiles," one anonymous player told the Miami Herald. "They created a monster from a very good baseball player — gave him so much slack to do whatever the [expletive] he wanted because he was performing. You can push some things aside when you're hitting .340 with 40 home runs. You say 'He's a [jerk], but I can deal with it. … But when you're playing and you're trying to be that same [jerk], it starts rubbing people the wrong way."

One player, Logan Morrison, went on record to discuss Ramirez, and he didn't exactly defend the infielder as a teammate.

"It would be good to have Hanley Ramirez hitting .342 like he did in 2009 still here," he told the Herald. "But other than that, that's all I'm going to say about that."

Players also indicated that they couldn't challenge Ramirez without fear of being shipped out of town. His attitude also rubbed off on Jose Reyes, according to the report.

Manager Ozzie Guillen did defend Ramirez to an extent saying that anyone blaming the Marlins' struggles on Ramirez would be "full of [expletive]."

Ramirez, who had a pair of hits in his debut with the Dodgers on Wednesday night, was hitting just .246 with 14 home runs and 48 RBIs when he was shipped to L.A.
