While Daniel Nava, Ryan Kalish, Ryan Sweeney, Cody Ross, Scott Podsednik and the recently-departed/new Yankee Darnell McDonald (among others) have done a decent job holding down the fort, the truth is that the patchwork outfield is not what Red Sox fans were expecting to see this season. But with Carl Crawford experiencing a few setbacks on his road back from wrist surgery as well as an elbow injury, and Jacoby Ellsbury suffering a subluxation of his shoulder right at the beginning of the season, journeymen and minor leaguers have thus far been the nightly reality for Boston.
But the light seems to finally be at the end of the tunnel for the Sox, as both Crawford and Ellsbury are inching ever closer to playing in the shadow of the Green Monster again.
