When the sun came up on Monday morning, Joe Paterno was all-time winningest coach in Division I college football history. Before noon on Monday, he had fallen to No. 5.
As part of the sanctions handed down on Penn State for its role in the Jerry Sandusky mess and the ensuing cover up, the Nittany Lions were forced to vacate wins from 1998 through 2011.
All in all, 111 wins were stripped from Paterno's record, meaning that not only has Paterno's legacy been shattered forever, so has his coaching record.
NCAA president Mark Emmert stated during his news conference on Monday morning that the NCAA wouldn't address individuals until the entire criminal investigation has been completed.
While Emmert declined to really address any individuals either in the punishments or at the news conference, there's no secret who suffers the most from the vacated wins.
