Joey Chestnut Captures Sixth Straight Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Title by Downing 68 Dogs and Buns (Video)

The Joey Chestnut dynasty continues.

Chestnut captured his sixth straight title at the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island on Wednesday, throwing back 68 dogs and buns to run away with the victory.

The 68 dogs were enough to match the record — which he owns — and make him $10,000 richer, but Chestnut was far from satisfied following the competition.

"It feels great to get the win, but I'm a little bummed I didn't get to 70," he said.

Chestnut is now tied with his former rival, Takeru Kobayashi, with the six contest wins. Kobayashi has been barred from entering the competition since 2010 because of a contract dispute with Major League Eating, though, so Chestnut should set the bar pretty high if Kobayashi never returns to the Coney Island event.

Tim Janus, who finished third last year, came in second place by eating 52 hot dogs, and Sonya Thomas won the women's competition by downing 45 dogs.
