Jon Lester, Will Middlebrooks Address Negativity Surrounding Red Sox on Twitter, Vow to Keep Playing HardThe Red Sox have not enjoyed the success so far this season that they might have liked, and fans are getting a bit restless with the squad. However, as Jon Lester and Will Middlebrooks acknowledged on Wednesday, the team is not happy with the results so far this season either.

Lester and Middlebrooks addressed some of the negativity surrounding the team on Twitter, and both vowed to keep playing hard.

“A lot of u have some harsh things to say,” Lester said on Wednesday. “No one is more disappointed [with] how the 1st half of the season went than us. That’s why we [never quit].

“Get it all out now,” he continued. “And for those of you who remain positive and supportive, I can’t tell you how much we appreciate it!”

Middlebrooks echoed his pitcher’s mentality, vowing to persevere despite the vitriol sent the team’s way at times.

“Keep the hate coming,” he wrote. “We fuel off it. We know who the real fans are. We play hard every day for you guys.”

While the vibe surrounding the team elsewhere might be a little negative, fans have to see some positives in the team rallying together. The Red Sox will have their first chance at righting the ship beginning Friday against Tampa Bay.
