The Celtics' starting power forward during the 2011-12 season has agreed to a three-year deal to remain with the team, according to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald. The details of the deal are still being worked out.
Bass' return helps to solidify the Celtics' frontcourt after Kevin Garnett also decided to return to the C's last week. The move gives the Celtics more depth inside and provides more playoff experience for a team desperate to improve upon their success from this past postseason.
Bass, 27, had a successful first season in Boston after being traded to the Celtics from Orlando in an offseason move for Glen "Big Baby" Davis. In 59 games with the C's last season, Bass put up the best statistical numbers of his career. He scored 12.5 points and grabbed 6.2 rebounds per game, while starting 39 games.
It was reported that Bass had drawn interest from a half dozen teams since the start of free agency, but it appears his interest in remaining with the Celtics trampled all other offers.
With Bass now locked up, the Celtics will likely focus all of their attention on inking free-agent Ray Allen to a new deal to remain with the team as well.
