Report: Celtics Among Front-Runners for Darko MilicicDarko Milicic is hardly known for anything he’s accomplished on the hardwood in the NBA, but a few teams are still looking to bring in the free-agent center. The Celtics are reportedly one of them.

The Celtics, Nets and Clippers are the front-runners for Milicic, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears.

The 27-year-old center was amnestied by the Timberwolves last week. According to ESPN’s Ric Bucher, Milicic will go through a modified amnesty process, and teams with cap space can make blind bids to pick up a portion of his remaining salary. If no team bids, he’ll reportedly become an unrestricted free agent.

Milicic, of course, is known for being taken second overall by the Pistons in 2003. In an incredibly talented draft, Milicic was picked behind only LeBron James and ahead of the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

Milicic received little playing time during his two-plus seasons with Detroit. The Serbian was dealt to Orlando just prior to the 2006 All-Star break, and he’s bounced around ever since, failing to live up to the hype that accompanied him.

The 7-footer has averaged 6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game over the course of his NBA career. He averaged 4.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 16.3 minutes per contest in 29 games with the T-Wolves last season.
