Report: Justin Morneau, James Shields on Dodgers’ Radar

The Dodgers could be buyers at the trade deadline, and a couple of All-Stars could be on their wish list.

Los Angeles is reluctant to meet the Cubs' demands for Ryan Dempster, but Justin Morneau and James Shields are two players on the team's radar, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Morneau has battled concussion problems in recent years, but he's a four-time All-Star and a former MVP. The Twins first baseman would provide instant offense to a team in need of a spark at the dish.

Shields, meanwhile, would go a long way toward stabilizing L.A.'s rotation. The Rays could still contend in the American League, but if they do decide to become sellers, Shields would be an attractive option to teams looking for an arm.

Dodgers fans should tame their excitement, though. They're reportedly not negotiating deals for either Morneau or Shields at this point. We'll see if that changes.
