Report: Rangers Interested in Shane DoanCount Shane Doan among those players who probably wouldn't look right with any other team. That isn't stopping teams from pursuing the free-agent winger, though.

The Rangers are "in the hunt" for Doan, according to the New York Post.

Doan has spent his entire career with the Phoenix Coyotes organization, dating back to 1995, when the Coyotes were still the first coming of the Winnipeg Jets. The Coyotes captain helped lead Phoenix to the Western Conference Final last season, but he's on the open market and could look to go elsewhere, depending on what happens with the franchise.

"We haven't entered into negotiations with any other teams, but Shane wants to be forthright and honest with clubs that have contacted us, and so we've let these clubs know whether there is mutual interest," Doan's agent, Terry Bross, reportedly said.

"I don't want to be specific about what teams those are, but there are no restrictions against negotiating with teams in the East … or the one in Manhattan."

Bross also said that Doan, who is coming off a five-year, $22.75 million contract, wants to make his decision based on his loyalty to the club, but that the 36-year-old wants to get a clearer idea of the franchise's long-term future in Phoenix beforehand.

Doan compiled 22-28-50 totals in 79 games last season.
