Report: Roy Hibbert Offered Max Contract by Portland Trail Blazers

Roy Hibbert is one of the few true big men in the NBA, so perhaps it's appropriate that he's been offered a similarly sized contract.

The Pacers center, a restricted free agent and generally regarded as the top center in this year's free agent class, has reportedly been offered a max contract by the Trail Blazers hours after NBA free agency opened Sunday morning, according to CBS Sports.

Offer sheets can't offically be signed until July 11, but once the offer is made, the Pacers will have three days to match it. Indiana hasn't offered a max contract, but the Pacers will have the chance keep Hibbert from jumping to Portland by matching or surpassing the offer once the Trail Blazers make the official move.

Hibbert, a four-year veteran, posted career highs last season of 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. The Blazers are desperately seeking help in the middle after former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden's career was derailed by injuries and Marcus Camby was traded at last year's deadline.
