Ryan Sweeney made a very, very costly mistake on Monday night.
The Red Sox outfielder fractured a finger after punching a dugout wall during the Red Sox' win over the Tigers at Fenway Park, and he now may be out for up to two months.
On Tuesday, the outfielder apologized. He did so via Twitter.
Sweeney's name had been coming up in trade talks in recent weeks, but that's obviously out of the picture. That led some to speculate (jokingly) that Sweeney punched the wall to ensure that he wasn't traded.

–Ryan Lochte may be having a disappointing Olympics thus far, but he's leading the Games in cliches
