Vote: Will David Ortiz Hit 500 Career Home Runs?David Ortiz reached a milestone on Wednesday evening, and looks like he won't be shutting the motor down anytime soon.

Ortiz blasted his 400th career home run in the top of the fourth inning during Wednesday's 4-1 loss in Oakland. The feat puts him within the top 50 home run hitters in major league history, and should settle things down for the DH even following the All-Star break.

The 36-year-old slugger is putting together one of his best seasons in 2012, hitting .302 with 22 homers and 55 RBIs. And while his age continues to creep closer and closer to 40, Ortiz has time and again shown his ability to remain effective at the dish.

So while Ortiz' age continues to be a point of concern for the Red Sox and other teams interested in obtaining his services, the eight-time All Star will likely continue to produce in the big leagues into his early 40s.

While Ortiz and Red Sox Nation bask in the glory of this most recent achievement, Big Papi could well be headed for even bigger feats before his career is done — such as hitting career home run No. 500.

Do you think Ortiz will reach 500 home runs before the end of his career?
