Billy Hamilton Breaks Vince Coleman’s Minor League Stolen Base Record (Video)

Billy Hamilton
could be sprinting right to the major leagues come September.

Hamilton, a prospect in the Cincinnati Reds organization, broke Vince Coleman's 1983 single-season minor league record of 145 steals with another impressive performance on Tuesday night.

Hamilton's total now sits at 147, and it's safe to assume that number will continue to climb this season — at least until September, at which point the Reds may elect to call him up in order to add some speed to their bench.

The 21-year-old shortstop recorded 104 steals in 82 games with Class High-A Bakersfield before making the leap to Double-A Pensacola, with whom he set the record on Tuesday.

The modern major league single-season record is 130 stolen bases, set by Rickey Henderson in 1982. Your move, Billy.
