The United States rallies in support of its Olympians, and singer-songwriter Brendan James is doing his part.
James is moving from California to South Carolina, but when he heard the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team plays his song “The Lucky Ones” in the locker room before games, he did what any sensitive songbird would do.
The Derry, N.H. native pulled his moving truck to the nearest music store (this happened to be in Amarillo, Tex.), fired up a device that let him stream live video and got performing.
James wished the team good luck, professed his love for the sport of soccer, started playing his song on the piano and belted out the words to “The Lucky Ones” … with feeling.
The U.S. Women watched the impromptu show in the locker room before Friday’s game and then took care of business on the field. They beat New Zealand 2-0 to earn a place in the semifinal. On Monday, they will meet Canada in a “CONCACAF Superclasico.”
It’s unkown if Miley Cyrus will sing “Party in the U.S.A.” before that contest, but there’s no way it will go over with the players as well as James’ song did. See below for proof.
