Bill Belichick and the Patriots have been having some serious problems along the offensive line throughout the preseason. Injuries have definitely played a factor, but there's also been another significant piece to the protection puzzle on the loose.

Brian Waters, a Pro Bowler and key cog to New England's Super Bowl run in 2011, has been missing since the beginning of training camp and there has been no return date set out. While the Patriots struggles on the line continue, Waters remains away from the team with no explanation given as to his whereabouts.

While the line would certainly cope without Waters and find a way to protect Tom Brady, which is essential to their success, the lineman's presence is vital to any hopes of their continued Super Bowl hopes.

NESN's Dale Arnold chatted with Jeff Howe of The Boston Herald during Thursday's NESN Daily, trying to figure out Waters ETA as well as what the Patriots could do without him.
