There's still plenty of transactions that take place later in the season, and the Red Sox have reaped the benefits of a number of August transactions. Some came via trade, while others were simply the signing of an impactful free agent.
A number of the players the Red Sox have scooped up in August have gone on to play a role in the postseason. That includes Bobby Kielty, who hit what ended up being the World Series-clinching home run in Game 4 in 2007.
Other players, like Rod Beck, never enjoyed postseason success, but still proved to be valuable contributors during their time in Boston.
