David Ortiz Goes Through Agility Drills With No Issues, Helping Assuage Some ConcernsBOSTON — David Ortiz ran around the bases on Wednesday, another positive step in his rehabilitation.

Shortly after his ailing Achilles passed the test, Ortiz reiterated that he hoped to be activated for the upcoming series against the Indians. Judging from Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine's reaction, it's a realistic possibility.

"He feels really good today," Valentine said. "Increasing the workload a little. We're not outside so he's not going to hit on the field. He'll hit in the cage. He feels really good."

The only concern is Ortiz's timing at the plate. Before the injury, the Red Sox designated hitter was absolutely raking at the plate, unloading 23 home runs and 58 RBIs while batting .316.

But Ortiz is the least bit concerned with having to deal with any rust.

"I haven't been just sitting down," Ortiz said. "I've been doing my workout and hitting once in a while. I'm going to continue hitting until I start playing, so that's good because I can at least make up my own mind when it comes to the hitting part. Trust me, what makes me worry is not the hitting. It's being able to play without worrying about anything."

Wednesday's agility drills helped assuage some of those worries.
