Happy birthday, DeMarcus Cousins. In your 22 years on this earth, you have given NBA teams reason to salivate over your immense skills while simultaneously scaring them off with your inexplicable behavior.
Technical fouls only begin to tell the story of Cousins, the Sacramento Kings’ forward/center entering his third NBA season. If Nuggets center JaVale McGee is the league’s resident unintentional goofball, Cousins is the NBA’s version of Joe Pesci — constantly angry for no apparent reason, to hilarious effect.
The two incidents below sum up Cousins’ inexplicable behavior. He just seems to get mad at things nobody needs to get mad at. First, he stumbled and banged into the hoop standard, but instead of laughing it off, he decided to rage about a nonexistent foul. Before that, he tried to interfere with Celtics guard Rajon Rondo attempting to help up teammate Kevin Garnett, which led to a brief pushing match.
Never change, DeMarcus.
