Dennis Eckersley Calls Josh Beckett ‘Villain’ of Red Sox, Says He Can Relate to Pitcher’s Struggles (Video)

Josh Beckett has been called many things by many people during a tumultuous 2012 season. You can add “villain” to the list.

Speaking with NESN’s Dale Arnold on Red Sox First Pitch, Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley said that he feels sorry for Beckett, but understands why fans have booed the three-time All-Star during a season that has seen him post a 5-9 record and 4.97 ERA.

Eckersley added that Beckett has been the “villain” of the 2012 Red Sox and that his performance, coupled with the problems Jon Lester has faced this season has been “an absolute disaster” for the Red Sox. See more in the above video.
