Notre Dame has long been known as the "Fighting Irish." But while the Irish's football program hasn't shown all that much fight over the past few seasons, their uniforms are about to get a pretty aggressive upgrade.

In light of a few big games during the 2012 season, Notre Dame has designed some new jerseys to sport against rivals Michigan and ACC title hopeful Miami.

The jerseys themselves are a subtle variation of the team's normal blue and gold colors, but maintain a more futuristic look to fall in line with similar jersey updates that primary sponsor Adidas has made for other teams in the past.

The helmets, though, are the real treat for hardcore fans. The helmets sport a multicolored split that includes one solid gold side and the other featuring a legitimate fighting Irishman. It's really a sight to see, and that's why we've included a few photos for your viewing — and judging — pleasure.
