Johnny Pesky was so much bigger than just a player for the Boston Red Sox. And Red Sox Nation made sure to recognize that fact after the legendary shortstop passed away on Monday.

Fans stopped by Fenway Park, even though the Red Sox were off for the day, after learning of the news and paid their respects to Pesky. Many of those fans dropped by the "Teammates" statue out beyond the Park gates in center field and left roses at Pesky's feet to honor his memory.

Check out the photos below to see how fans paid homage to Pesky.
