Red Sox Trade for Danny Valencia, Give Up Jeremias Pineda to TwinsDanny Valencia didn't have very far to travel to get to his new team.

The former Twins third baseman is now a member of the Red Sox organization after being traded for outfielder Jeremias Pineda, according to a Red Sox news release.

Valencia, a career .260 hitter in parts of three seasons with the Twins, was optioned to Triple-A following the transaction. He is hitting .198 on the season with two homers and 17 RBIs in 34 games.

Pineda has hit a league-leading .421 with 22 RBIs, 20 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 36 games for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox, a rookie-level squad.
