Report: Arsenal Agrees to Sell Robin van Persie to Manchester United for £24 MillionThe summer's longest-running transfer saga is nearing a dramatic conclusion.

Arsenal and Manchester United have agreed to deal that will see Robin van Persie join United for £24 million ($37.7), according to the BBC.

"The 29-year-old will meet with United in the next 48 hours to discuss personal terms and have a medical," the BBC reports.

The Arsenal captain won both of English soccer's major player of the year awards in 2011-12 after scoring 37 goals in all competitions. He lead the club to a third-place finish in last season's Premier League.

Arsenal wanted to sign him to a new contract, but he declined to do so because he felt the club was not heading in the right direction.

United will receive one of the world's top strikers, who is coming off a career year. He should form a lethal partnership with Wayne Rooney in the United front line.

It appears the Gunners will reluctantly sell their talisman to their rivals instead of losing him for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the season.
