Report: Sharks Among Favorites to Land Shane Doan

While every NHL player's future is up in the air with the ongoing labor issues, Shane Doan's is especially unpredictable.

The longtime Coyotes captain is a free agent, and while he's expressed a desire to remain with Phoenix, the franchise faces ownership issues that could force the forward to look elsewhere. If he does, the San Jose Sharks are among the favorites to land Doan, according to CSNBayArea.com's Kevin Kurz.

Doan has already visited with the Rangers, Flyers and Canucks this offseason, and the Predators, Penguins and Sabres have also reportedly expressed interest, so where Doan plays his next NHL game is really anyone's guess at this point. Kurz reports that San Jose has flown "under the radar" in its pursuit.

There have been reports that Doan is seeking a four-year deal worth $30 million. So while it's tough to determine where the 35-year-old will eventually land, it's clear that the team will have to pony up some cash.
