Ronda Rousey is really becoming a household name.
After another dominating performance on Saturday, the Strikeforce women's batamweight champion is starting to garner national attention. It's not without cause either, as Rousey has defeated all six of her professional opponents in the first round, with five of those victories coming in under a minute.
Even more fascinating about Rousey's rise to stardom is the manner in which she has defeated her opponents. Not only does she quickly dispose of them, as she did to Sarah Kaufman on Saturday, but she has developed a go-to move in the octagon — the armbar.
Following Rousey's first-round victory over Kaufman, the Twitterverse was buzzing, with users commenting on Rousey's dominance, undefendable armbar, good looks, level of scariness, her next opponent and more.
That next opponent could be Cris "Cyborg" Santos, once considered one of the greatest fighters in women's MMA before a yearlong steroid ban. In fact, Rousey has already made the first move in setting up a fight, calling out Santos immediately after her latest win.
While that fight could end up being one for the ages, it's hard to deny that Rousey is one of the most dominant athletes in sports today, even if hers doesn't get the same share of the limelight that more mainstream sports receive.
Perhaps it's time to start paying even more attention.
